Welcome to Oak Aquarium, an up-and-coming experiment in DIY culture and creativity.

Aquarium (n): an establishment where aquatic collections of living organisms are kept and exhibited.

Born from the sole motivation to keep a scene alive, we bring you Oak Aquarium, a site dedicated to bringing you the very best in independent art, apparel and all things keeping street, skate and snowboard culture alive and thriving. Our community is a self-contained, self-sustained microcosm built on friends pushing friends to limits in order to achieve individual style, whether it be in the street, on the slope, a canvas, a t-shirt, a mix tape…

Oak Aquarium represents the soul of independent street culture by providing an outlet for "Do it Yourself" expression. Currently, we feature full lines from emerging, independent clothing labels.

All of the labels represent the heart and soul of this project: Clothing that is independently designed and produced as a reaction to the culture surrounding them.

Currently Oak Aquarium is seeking artists of all mediums, shapes and sizes who seek to enter their work into the wonderful realm of retail, or are simply looking for an outlet to have their work displayed in a like-minded environment: independent clothing and accessory labels, visual artists, designers, photographers, videographers, writers, zine producers and musicians who all share our vision of keeping the creativity fluid and progressive in art, street, skate and snowboard culture.

What to expect…
It is the goal of the good people behind this site to create an open online community that supports itself creatively After all, we are only what we create…In the very near future, look for expanded product offerings, blogs, news, monthly updates, and events listings. The more we all give, the more we will all progress. Just like friends feeding off of friends to tre flip a 15 set or spin a backside 5 over a table, Oak Aquarium will only progress further through your participation…

What inspires you?
As street, skate, and snowboard culture are defined by no definition at all, Oak Aquarium welcomes weird. Let us know you think, about anything, really.

Oak Aquarium is taking it from the web and into the streets. Currently we are assembling a motley crew of like-minded misfits and neer-do-wells willing to spread the good word of the DIY revolution across high schools and college campuses nationwide. Help us thrive by distributing flyers, stickers and other forms of propaganda at local events and spots of deviant behavior (skate parks, coffee houses, student unions, shows, video premieres, Knights of Columbus meetings, etc.) In return, you will receive points redeemable for purchases on the site.
